How we make money

Draft — not yet reviewed by counsel. This text describes how Holiday Registry actually behaves and is written to meet FTC, Amazon Associates, COPPA, and CAN-SPAM obligations, but it must be reviewed by a lawyer before the site opens to the public.

Holiday Registry is free. There is no subscription, no premium tier, and nothing to buy from us. We make money when you buy a gift from a shop through a link on this site or in the app.

When you buy through links here, we may earn a commission. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

What that means in practice

When someone adds a product link to a wish list, we keep that link exactly as they pasted it. When you then click through to buy, we send you to the shop through an affiliate network, which tells the shop we sent you. If you buy, the shop pays us a percentage.

You pay the same price you would have paid going to the shop directly. We never mark anything up, and a commission never changes what price you see.

What it does not mean

Gift guides

Our gift guides contain affiliate links too, and the same disclosure appears on every one of them. We write about things we would actually give. A shop cannot pay to appear in a guide, and no brand sees a guide before it is published.

Which networks

We work with Amazon Associates and with affiliate networks that represent a large number of other retailers. If a link points to a shop we have no relationship with, it goes through untouched and we earn nothing — which is fine, and happens often.
